IP conversion (numbers to letters)

PHP @ December 31, 1969   Views:0

Is it possible to change ip addresses, gathered and stored in a database as part of a hit counter, from their numerical state (e.g. 125.257.32.41) to their domain names e.g. (rupertbj.co.uk).

I would be very grateful for any help that can be given on this problem.

--------------Solutions-------------

no you will have to get the domain name when you get the ip.

Most people do not have static IP's there all running off DHCP so when they log off then log back on the net, there IP changes. So if you tryed pinging all the ips you wont get all the domain names....

But you will want to log the domain name and or IP at the same time not after the fact..

-sorry

thanks - good plan!

Try gethostbyaddr().
