need to upgrade HDD without reinstalling ubuntu

Ubuntu @ May 21, 2009   Views:0

i got a laptop , i need to upgrade my HDD but i dont want to lose my current ubuntu configurations ...

what if i copied the whole filesystem to the new HDD ... will that work ?

if not what can i do ?

I've done that with Desktop hdds. just copied the partitions. It worked.
Laptops can be peculiar sometimes though. I've installed Ubuntu on an hdd in one laptop, then moved the hdd to another (not the same manufacturer or anything HP>>Thinkpad) and it was ok,

Just changed the drive in my laptop. Gparted can do what you want.
Hard Drive Cloning - see post #9

thanks i really waited long hey how i can mark this as solved ?
